Inside the Toronto pop-up celebrating small businesses and the people behind them

To celebrate Small Business Month in Canada, TD Insurance is showing appreciation for the dedication and resilience of all the hard-working entrepreneurs by showcasing several small businesses at Toronto’s STACKT Market.

The museum-themed exhibit highlights the quirky and unexpected items that small businesses may need to insure — showing the creativity and resilience behind every venture. 

Running now until Sunday, Oct. 19, visitors can enjoy an immersive experience as they explore unique artifacts and learn about various businesses nationwide. 

Participating businesses include THE NEXT LEVEL STORE, Ratélier, Pho Anh Vu, King’s Heating and Cooling, FreshMart, Tobin’s Convenience Ltd., DSD Electric LTD, and more.

We chatted with David Clark from DSD Electric to learn more about his company and this unique exhibit.

Inside DSD Electric

David was inspired to start DSD Electric during his time as an apprentice.

“The satisfaction it brought me doing it for someone else was great, so at the time, I could only imagine how it would feel to do it for myself.”

Eight years later, with a master electrical license obtained, David would find out.

TD Insurance is showcasing a vintage volt meter to represent a tool used and insured by electrical companies like DSD Electric. For David Clark, having his company represented with an item featured in the STACKT Market exhibit is an exciting moment.

“It’s hard enough for small business owners when first starting out, so this gives us a little motivation to keep putting all we have into what we enjoy doing,” he explains.
